Jun glazed stoneware 鈞磁, Yuxian kilns 禹縣窯, Henan Province 河南省, Song 宋代 (960-1279), Yuan 元代 (1279-1368) and Ming dynasties 明代 (1368-1644).
The term “Jun” denotes ceramics made in a group of kilns producing objects whose distinguishing trait is a glaze giving a pale blue opalescent effect. This is often decorated with crimson or purple splashes resulting from the deliberate use of copper oxide, which the Chinese like to describe as “clouds” or “sky at sunset”.
