Considered one of the greatest masters of the 19th century, Ichijô 一乘 (1791-1876) belongs to a branch of the Gotô School (drawer 2). He broke with the strict rules of the official style by working with various metals and alloys in a wide range of techniques. The originality of his work continues to be seen with his disciples, notably Funada Ikkin 船田一琴 (1812-1863), Araki Tômei 荒木東明 (Issai 一斎) (1817-1870), and Wada Isshin和田一真 (1814-1882).
