The Donations gallery

The Foundation set up by Alfred Baur was above all intended to care for and maintain the integrity of his own collections, which he had painstakingly acquired throughout his life, ensuring that no object would be either removed from or added to them. However, this condition inevitably prevented all possibility of enriching the collections in the future.

 

In 1995, the Baur Foundation was granted the right to enlarge the building housing the collections and at the same time to receive and exhibit donations. Since then, several fine donations have been accepted and these treasures can now be presented on a rotating basis in a new gallery inaugurated in September 2017.
