Description:
Of potiche form, with heavy foot and recessed base; shallow domed cover with knob in form of a lion. Whitish porcelain with translucent, lustrous grey-green glaze, the base glazed, the foot burnt red. Carved in relief round the sides are eight panels with sprays of peach and pomegranate alternating with Chinese characters; above the foot is a border of broad leaves. On the cover the same four characters are incised and reserved in unglazed biscuit, burnt orange-red, with 'cash' pattern and quatrefoil panels in the glazed areas between. The lion knob also is in biscuit.
Comments:
The characters deliberately left in biscuit on the lid reads: “Excellent wine, clear and fragrant” mei jiu qing xiang 美酒清香.
