Description:
Longquan brown-spotted celadon bottle of slender pear shape with tapering sides, tall slender neck with spreading mouth, and rounded, everted lip; straight foot and glazed, flat base with a circular recess in the centre. Whitish porcelain with translucent light grey-green glaze decorated with spots of ferruginous dark brown. The foot ring burnt orange-brown.
Comments:
Celadons decorated with brown spots produced by iron oxide are especially admired in Japan, where they are known as tobi seiji 飛青磁.
