Description:

Of shallow, circular form with straight sides, and matching cover with flattened dome top; slight foot. It contains a nest of five smaller covered boxes, four of trefoil shape and one in the form of a rosette. Grey porcellanous stoneware with greyish-green celadon glaze which covers the interiors, feet, and bases on which remain patches of whitish firing-grit. The sides of the boxes are decorated with finely-incised key-fret and tendril-scroll patterns, and their tops with black and white inlaid designs. On the principal piece this consists of a central rosette ringed with cash pattern and a petal border with incised details. The central container figures a chrysanthemum head surrounded by cloud-collars; the others bear various flower sprays.
