Mark of Yongzheng (1723-1735) : da Qing Yongzheng nian zhi 大清雍正年製 written in underglaze blue within a double ring on the plain-glazed base.

Description:

Yellow glazed dish (one of a pair) moulded in the shape of an open lotus flower with rounded, spreading sides hollowed slightly below the foliated rim. The inside showing two concentric ranks of petals round the seed-pod in the centre; low, thinly potted foot ring. Both inside and outside are covered with a rich, opaque light lemon-yellow enamel having a slightly rippled surface; the foot rims are burnt orange-pink. This motif symbolises fertility and numerous offspring.
